A Wedding Book Meant to Be Read a Year Later

Chelsea Anne De Leon

Two weeks before her wedding, Miel reached out to me with a very specific idea for her wedding guest journal.

And thankfully, she already knew exactly what she wanted.

Her wedding was going to be in Siargao, so naturally, the journal had to feel like it belonged there too.

She chose our Plum Wave Regal design for both the front and back covers, but with one little twist.

This time, we made it in Coptic binding.

But what really caught my attention wasn't the design.

It was what she wanted the journal to be for.

Instead of having their guests simply write congratulations, Miel wanted them to leave warm messages, advice, and little tips for the newlyweds.

And here's the sweetest part.

They weren't going to read any of it right away.

They would open the journal on their first wedding anniversary.

I don't know about you, but I thought that was such a beautiful idea.

Imagine spending your first year of marriage together, then sitting down on your anniversary and opening a book filled with the words of the people who celebrated your beginning.

It's basically a time capsule of everyone cheering you on.

Miel also wanted their wedding monogram incorporated into the journal, so we created custom endpapers featuring their initials.

And honestly, the color combination turned out beautifully.

The plum and purple of the cover against their olive green monogram felt so perfect for the island garden setting.

But she had one more idea.

She wanted the monogram to be visible before you even opened the journal.

So we created a little peek-through on the cover.

From the outside, you can already see their wedding monogram sitting on the front endpaper.

Then, when you open the journal...

There's another little surprise.

Their wedding location and date are placed underneath it.

A tiny introduction to the story before you even reach the first page.

I think that's what I love most about bespoke journals.

Sometimes the little details aren't there just because they look nice.

They're there because they mean something.

This journal wasn't simply made to collect wedding messages.

It was made to hold a future moment.

The kind of moment where, one year from now, Miel and her husband can sit together, open these pages, and revisit the people, words, and love that surrounded them when they first said "I do."

And somehow, I got to make the little book that will hold all of that.

What an honor.

Congratulations, Miel and your husband. 🤍

I hope the journal stays closed for exactly one year...

And that when you finally open it, every page feels like coming home.
